As with this time every year, we start speculating and waiting for the next iPhone. This is an ‘s’ year as last year we saw the birth of the slightly longer iPhone 5, and with most ‘s’ years we don’t expect much more than an updated OS and some slight hardware improvements.
One of those slight hardware improvements we might be seeing is a fingerprint sensor. With their purchase of AuthenTec, we can hope to see the first smartphone on the market with a layer of physical security separate from the typical pattern / password system we have seen for so long now.
Though this probably doesn’t speak volumes to the typical consumer (aside from the cool factor) this does give it a nice edge for corporate or security concerned users, and may give them the extra new feature they need to one up Samsung for the coming months.
